The medium fits me OK and is comfortable but is just a bit too tight. I backpacked 15 miles with no complaint. The large is a better match for my 34 waist. My suggestion is that if you are a 32 waist or smaller, go with the medium. If you are a 33 – 34 go with the large. If you are 35 or larger waist, forget the medium and go with the large for sure.
