I’ve only had time to run the standard OpenMP compute meaningless FMA ops code, but so far it looks very easy to use. Make sure you get at-least the Intel C++ Composer XE because as of this writing, GCC doesn’t issue the special vector instructions that the Phi relies on to achieve it’s blistering performance. To be able to play with more sophisticated usage models/optimize code better, get the Intel Cluster Studio XE – it includes Intel’s MPI (though I understand MPICH2 works just fine after a little tweaking), and also includes Intel’s VTune Amplifier which makes it easy to look for vectorization opportunities.
